With all that’s happening in the world, I’ve been a bit MIA. Processing, educating, tending & joining community prayers.
I’ve been pondering on how I can make a small difference with my voice, gifts, privilege and capacity; and it always comes back to connecting others to Nature & it’s natural ability to bring us into our bodies, into the present moment, and guide us within.
Nature has a way to bring at the forefront what needs to be shown & acknowledged into the body, and then aids in releasing. It’s healing - in all the sense of the word. Dark, light, soft, hard. It meets you in the darkness and guides you through it. It brings about emotional & physical releases. It also supports our nervous system and brings calm and grounding. There’s a reason (and multiple studies for that matter) that shows why Forest Bathing Therapy is used as a form of medicine all over the world, now.
When we stop and notice the little subtle living beings around us - the sounds & the movements - it has a way of humbling us into existence. It helps with the overwhelm of the world & the feelings of powerlessness.
And so for this week, here’s my invitation for you. I have recorded a 10-minutes sound mapping invitation to help you connect with your sense of hearing to the nature sounds. Try it:
Sound Mapping
You can do this in your home or anywhere, really. All you need is:
-10 minutes of your time
-Headphones (noise cancelling work best)
-A writing tool (pen, crayon, pencil, etc.)
-A paper
-A hard surface (but if you can use your legs too)
Find a spot where you can make yourself comfortable. This can be inside or outside. Have your tools ready, in front of you. Put on the earphones and press play on the audio:
Let go. Embrace. Don’t judge the process. And really sink into the sound of my voice, of nature, and your breath.
I hope you try it and find some calm & comfort.
And if you do, i’d love to hear your thoughts!
